On October 31, I had the pleasure of attending the most amazing costume party in ages, hosted by Julio Torres: The Cursed Amulet. It was a fantastic night filled with models, celebrities, signature drinks, and some incredibly stylish folks. What a blast!
I was thrilled to be invited to contribute to a new label for Charles Willson Peale as part of the Brooklyn Museum's 200th anniversary celebration, titled "Toward Joy: New Frameworks for American Art." Art is meant to stir emotions, and it was wonderful to see how my thoughts on this piece resonated with so many people, eliciting genuine feelings and reactions.
When I was teaching at Sex Down South, I received my nomination for the 2024 Slut Power Award, and it stirred up a whirlwind of emotions for me. I often struggle with accepting praise or recognition for my work. As I move through the rest of this year and into the next, I’m committed to embracing the appreciation that both others and I can offer for the efforts I put into my work. My mentor, Cecilia Gentili, has helped me realize that my true calling is to support my communities. If I can’t take pride in being a hooker with a 401(k) and a social worker without letters, then who will?
The objective of this workshop is to engage participants in a critical exploration of the intersection between sex work and systemic inequality, particularly focusing on how the criminalization of sex work disproportionately affects marginalized communities. Through an inclusive dialogue, we will examine the historical context of sex work, discuss the stigma surrounding it, and strategize ways to dismantle these barriers. Participants will be encouraged to share their experiences and insights, fostering a supportive environment that promotes understanding and allyship. Together, we aim to build meaningful connections and advocate for the rights and dignity of all individuals in the sex work community.
It's the oldest profession, and people are still actin' brand new. From the emergence of OnlyFans to cam work to survival sex work, sex work is work, and Cecilia made sure we all knew it. Ianne FIelds Stewart sits down with Victoria, Linda, and a surprise guest to discuss what is needed to create a hopeful and beautiful future for the workers in the pleasure industry.
"You're gonna be a whore. You're gonna get high. You're gonna die young." – Cecilia Gentili, Red Ink
I had the incredible honor of doing an art residency on Fire Island in memory of my dear friend, sister, and mentor, Cecilia Gentili. It was a wonderful chance for me to dive deep into my emotions and express them through my art, all while enjoying some quality time with good friends by the poolside.
June is my prime time—it's when everyone suddenly wants to prove how woke they are by booking me. You know, the whole “let’s be allies for a month” vibe. But hey, I’m not complaining! I mean, who doesn’t love cash and free goodies? It’s like a little bonus for being tokenized!
